The common denominator in my family is that we rely on machines for our jobs and school work. So it doesn’t come as a surprise that we have many technological devices lying around. Our favorite is the printer. We rely on it to produce printouts of maps and documents. We have been using it for years so wearing it out was inevitable. This is because I had to buy four cartridges to make my old printer work. This was very tasking as my three children haven’t learned how to conserve yet. In my new printer, I only had to buy one. The printer also has a “toner save” feature that reduces Samsung SCX compatible toner usage but still make quality print-outs.

Sometimes, the family gets into situations where we need a fast copy of a certain document. This often ends in vain. These situations are now avoided because of the printer’s copier feature. The process is very easy. In fact my kids are already familiar with it.

The fax feature of the machine is very convenient for me and my wife. It saves us from having to drive down to an establishment that offers fax services. It was either this or trying to use the office fax machine. Our new printer allows us to conduct our faxing needs in the comfort of our home.

I believe the one feature I had a problem with is the scanning. Honestly, it was a little disappointing. It showed a lot of contrasting strips along with poor resolution and pitiful color accuracy. On a lighter note, though, the scans are tolerable when it comes to documents and simple pictures we just need a back-up of.

I’ve been using the printer for a while now. In that time, I noticed a few things other people might be concerned about. Paper jams had been happening recently in the input tray. What I do is remove the jammed paper slowly. It also emits a high-pitched noise when it’s working. Sometimes, it gets annoying.

The Samsung SCX 4521 printer is designed for monochrome printing. This might be considered as a minus in its overall rate. When I think about it though, it’s seldom that I would print something in color. In conclusion, this Samsung printer is a handy piece of equipment to have around.
